2012 Summer Sun Battle of the Bands!
Building on the success of the Summer Sun Youth Festival in 2011 the organising Committee would like to announce the Summer Sun Battle of the Bands will be held on Saturday, 31st March 2012, in Campbell Park from 3pm to 7.30pm. This free family friendly community event will be an afternoon of chilled live music from throughout the region.
The aim of this project is to develop the musical talents of young artists from our local area through face to face interaction with professionals within the music industry.
Artists will be invited to showcase their talents on the day along with gaining experience in stage work, sound and lighting, speaking with industry professionals and networking.
The aim of this event is to build on young performer’s confidence and self-esteem by providing an arena in which they normally wouldn’t have access to.
So if you’re in a band, have friends you just jam with or are interested in forming a band, now’s your chance to get exposure and have the opportunity to play to a large live audience!
The competition is open to all New England Region original unsigned bands, and duos. Solo artists are not eligible to enter this competition.
1st prize consists of the recording of a commercially produced single and recording time at a professional studio and the provision of 200 copies of the commercially recorded single.
2nd prize is currently in the display window of Black Dot Music Inverell who kindly donated an electric guitar, protective carry case, leads and strap:
